Meet the Quad Squad
Here at Easton Park, we have lots of different types of homes to fit all styles and budgets, including Courtyard Homes. Built by Brookfield Residential, Pacesetter, and Newmark, Courtyard Homes offer ample living space with flexible options like attached casitas and separate garage apartments. Each home has its own side courtyard, and groups of four homes share a driveway, making a great spot to hang out with neighbors.
Meet the Neighbors
When Bryan and Kaylie Aubel first came to look at a Courtyard home by Brookfield Residential, it was their future neighbor Kevin who sealed the deal. “We met the neighbor diagonally when came to look at houses — he was out doing lawn care — and we just started chatting,” Bryan said. “Kevin’s a friendly guy, and we were asking his opinion about things, since he was the first to move into the courtyard. It was a quick conversation, but he gave us a good feeling. Striking that connection with him in the microcommunity got us interested in this home specifically. I think we even joked about it when were were closing up the conversation, like, ‘Hey, maybe we’ll be neighbors!’”
“It called to us.”
Just a few weeks later, Bryan and Kaylie moved in with their cats, Molly and Stella, and that driveway conversation became reality. “The house was already done when we looked at it — it was an inventory home. We didn’t go through the design process, but we really liked the way it looked,” Bryan said. “It called to us,” Kaylie added. “We loved the amount of sunlight that gets into the house, and the tan tiles and white paint — it just felt like home.”
Eight is Enough
A few weeks after Bryan and Kaylie moved in, they met a couple from Laredo who was looking at the house directly next to theirs. That couple, Denise and Joey, ended up purchasing the house next door, and not long after, Jeff and Sari, a couple from the Bay Area, bought the last house in the quad. “Everyone just gets along really well,” Bryan said. “It’s the kind of thing where, if one of the neighbors has a lawn mower or weed wacker, people are willing to share that for the time being and bring it back. If someone has a package being delivered and they aren’t home, they can text the group and someone else will bring it in until they get back.”
Welcoming Mike & Cassie
At the end of last year, Denise and Joey moved back to Laredo. While they are missed, Mike and Cassie, fresh to Easton Park from Idaho, have been a great addition to the quad. The group keeps an eye out for what’s going on in the Easton Park community. “We got together as a quad and walked down to listen to Music in the Park and hang out as a group,” Kaylie said. “We also went to Skyline Park opening together.”
Finding Community
As Bryan and Kaylie settle into life in their new neighborhood, they love the sense of community that living in Easton Park and their close-knit quad provides. “You can tell how much community means to the people who live here,” Bryan said. “It just makes people feel welcome. People get together here — we love seeing all the commercial development going on as well. The plans they have for the community are coming together well. We love this neighborhood. Moving to a brand new city and state where you know no one; it truly feels like home.”
